Thankfulness
Today I am super busy getting ready for Thanksgiving, which My family is celebrating here at my house in Madison, Wisconsin! I hope everyone everywhere has a wonderful Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for. It’s a good idea to think about those things. The news gets really grim, and It’s important to remember the light in the darkness.
“You can’t have a Light without a Dark to stick it in.” said Arlo Guthrie at a concert I went to once, years ago.
Well, things seem dark. Look for the Glimmers. I saw that on Facebook about a week ago. Glimmers are the opposite of triggers: things that spark joy. watch for the glimmers.
It feels good to find a way to give at this time of year too. yesterday I cleared out my closet and somehow SIX huge bags of clothes were culled. nice clothes, just clothes that no longer fit me, or no longer suit my style. I bagged ‘em up and Nathan is going to pass them on to St. Vinnies this afternoon. I’ve lost a bunch of weight this summer… someone is going to hit a jackpot of barely worn size 18 jeans!! Thankful for being able pass on barely used clothes for someone who might need them, thankful for room in my closet, yet somehow… no leftover hangers??!?
I am Thankful for all my new readers.
Here is a spectacular moth video I found on YouTube.
Have a Lovely Thanksgiving. Eat until you burst.
If you are feeling lonely, or your situation is dark this year, remember that somewhere in the Midwest is a weirdo lady who collects crystals and cats. she’s thinking about you today, and wishing you joy of the season, a warm place to stay, company and something nourishing to eat. Hold on hope! Watch for the Glimmers.
I pulled some cards for today from my all-time favorite, “believe in your own magic Oracle Deck” by Amanda Lovelace. As always, the cards don’t disappoint.
This is one of my favorite cards. Who doesn’t need to be reminded , on the regular, that they are always enough? Who hasn’t spent a good deal of time convinced otherwise? You are enough! Claim it! And if you are going to be with people who may make you sometimes feel otherwise, then arm yourself ahead of time, lovelies. Write it down. put it in your pocket. look in the mirror and say it. “I am always enough.” As Amanda Lovelace says, “Feed yourself a steady diet that speaks to self-love, self-kindness &self-confidence.”
Oh, yes, my dear. You have worked so hard to get to the holidays. SLOW DOWN and FEAST now. you deserve to feast and celebrate yourself on the regular, not just on holidays! But it’s really hectic around now, isn’t it. I know it is for me, holidays PLUS I’m starting a new job Monday. Whooo-eee! As Amanda says, “If we never stop to fully recognize the good we have, then the bad stuff can knock us down much harder than it would have otherwise! Yes, yes yes.
